FSQJ Food Safety Music Videos

Professor Carl Winter is passionate about two things: food safety and his synthesizer. When not acting as director of the Food Safe Program at UC Davis, he spreads his message through song, with hits like “Don’t Get Sicky Wit It” “We Are the Microbes” Dr. Winter researches the detection of pesticides and naturally-occurring toxins in foods, how to assess their risks and identify how to use the science in the regulatory decision-making process. His most recent work includes looking at the relationships between crop production systems and naturally-occurring toxins.
His innovative approach to food safety information dissemination has earned him a USDA grant to study the effectiveness of incorporating parodies of popular music and food safety messages into educational curriculum.
