FSQJ Food Safety Tip of the Week The Issue at "Hand"

Each year, more than 164 million school days are lost due to illness, and that number could be greatly reduced with proper handwashing.

The Issue at "Hand"

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 76 million Americans get sick, and 5,000 die from foodborne illness each year.

Some viruses and bacteria can live for up to two hours on cafeteria tables, doorknobs, and desks.

Scrub Club® to the Rescue!

The Scrub Club® program was created to raise awareness about the benefits of handwashing and improve the health of children.

Visit www.scrubclub.org for a "Webisode," interactive games, and even an official handwashing theme song.

The Issue at Hand FightBac

There are materials available for use in the classroom, like this poster on handwashing.

So don't wait - Fight BAC! with proper handwashing.
